In March of 1807, a court appointed person made a report and presented a draft of the division of the township of Armstrong. Five townships emerged from this division, to wit: Blacklick, Conemaugh, Center, Armstrong, and Washington, which were approved by the court.
Washington is a rural area. There are two major historical features, two covered bridges on Five Points Road, the Harmon and Trusell Bridges.
