Ernest Originally a small coal mining town built by R&P Coal Company, it was named for Ernest Iselin, one of the owners of R&P. At one time, it had a company store which housed the post office. It also had an elementary school, a catholic school, and several mine offices including the company doctor's office. Now it is strictly residential. Many of the features that distinguished it as a coal mining town are now gone. There are, however, the old foundations of the coke ovens and the black boney that will continue to remind the residents of the once thriving town that it was. Ernest Office Information
