Center
Center Township was created in 1807 by order of the court dividing Armstrong Township. It was named for its position within the County because it was thought to be at or near the center. The first election was held at Peter Sutton's house in Indiana.
CENTER TOWNSHIP TODAY: The Homer Center Electric Generating Station, which is owned by Edison Misson Energy, is located in Center Township. Also, the oldest church in Indiana County is located in Center Township, which is the Bethel Presbyterian Church.
