Buffington ![]() Buffington Township was created by court order dividing Pine Township in 1867. It was named in honor of Judge Joseph Buffington who was on the bench at this time. The Buffington Post Office opened December 3, 1879 at the site of Blacklick Furnace, Buffington Township. The postmaster was William Wilson. The Post Office closed December 31, 1904. BUFFINGTON TOWNSHIP TODAY: A biking trail named "The Ghost Town Trail" runs through the township from Dilltown to Wehrum to Regis and then to Red Mill. One Post office is located in Dilltown where there is also a bed and breakfast named Dillweed. Buffington Office Information
