Brush Valley
Brush Valley was formed by a Court action from the Wheatfield Township in 1835. It was named for Brush Creek because the early settlers in the area found that the timber along the creek was short and compared it to the timber of brush. Brush Creek and its south branch empties into the Black Lick Creek.
Brush Valley Township Post Office opened July 5, 1842 and was located in Mechanicsburg for many years. John C. Magil was the postmaster.
