Blacklick ![]() Blacklick Township was created by Court action in 1807 from the territory of Armstrong Township. The township was named after the Blacklick Creek, one of the major streams in Indiana County and a major contributor of the Conemaugh River into which it flows. The first election was held in 1807. The Blacklick Post Office opened in July 1809, probably at Campbell's Mill. Conrad Linter was the postmaster at the time. The Post Office then closed January 1, 1821 and moved to Blairsville. It reopened February 8, 1850 and George W. Campbell was the postmaster. It closed again on December 12, 1858. BLACKLICK TOWNSHIP TODAY: On January 1, 1993, Jacksonville Borough merged with Blacklick Township. This merger increased the population by 89. Currently, Blacklick Township is comprised of 25,000 acres. Blacklick Office Information
