Kokomo Kokomo, Indiana, located in the center of the state, is the county seat of Howard County with an estimated population of about 50,000. Kokomo was the birthplace of the automobile, pneumatic rubber tire, the aluminum casting process, stainless steel, the first push-button car radio, and much more. Kokomo is also home to Delphi Electronics and two Chrysler Transmission Plants. The city of Kokomo is positioned 40.47 degrees north of the equator and 86.13 degrees west of the prime meridian; or in other words... "it's about an hour north of Indy."
